How I Came Up With Her Name

Because Haurchefant loves chocobos and Liborette was created for shipping with him, I decided to name her after Bartz's chocobo from Final Fantasy V. However, Boko by itself is a little too cheesy. So I searched Behind The Name for entries containing the letters "bo," where I discovered the Italian "Liboria." Its root is the Latin "liber," meaning free. I was instantly struck by the opportunity to make a pun on the free trial in which this poor girl was created and abandoned.

But Liboria is an ugly name. (No offense to any Liborias reading— it probably sounds better in Italian.) I looked up feminine name endings to mix and match with libor-. In the end, Liborette sounded the cutest! It's strange but not too strange, just how I like 'em. It only continues to delight me.

Iudicium, meanwhile, is literally just the Latin word for "trial." Not so much the modern concept of attempting something, but "trial" as in judgements, opinions, and decisions. Like when you play a game for a little while to decide whether or not you like it. In the case of Liborette's in-universe creator, I can't say why she stopped playing, but I do know she will never return.

Anyways, while Liborette was still in development, I called her Boko-chan and it stuck. I will sometimes refer to her that way and you're welcome to do the same. Think of it as her meta nickname!
